Stansted Garden Show and Family Open Day

I am writing the weekly blog now as I will be at the Stansted Garden Show all day tomorrow and then will have to bring everything back to site so a long day! It has been lovely to see those of you that have visited the show. Do come by to the Home and Garden marquee if you are planning on visiting. There will be a cooking demo with some of our blackcurrants tomorrow in the chef demonstration area by Barbara Crick who runs the Emsworth Cookery School. Barbara is a great chef so can highly recommend her slot. She is also, I am pleased to say, is a fellow veg bag customer.

Our next public event will be the Tuppenny Barn annual Family Open Day on Sunday 25th June from 2 – 5pm. We will be opening our doors so that everyone can see the work we are doing and have an opportunity to walk around teh smallholding. We will be having PYO as well as the traditional cream tea tent. Emma and Carla have organised family games as the afternoon will include lots of things for the youngsters to get involved in. Sarah Hughes, the CDC Wildlife Officer, will be doing something with the pond and no doubt Adrian will be talking about the bees. I think we have also persuaded Christine to do one of her popular folk hedgerow talks.

Last week, we have dried some of our lemon verbena and put into tea bags to sell in the shop. We also have our most recent production of elderflower cordial. This year, it has been a wonderful year for the elderflower bushes we have in the hedgerow and we hope to do a second batch of the cordial shortly.
