We will be open for the Emsworth Art Trail again this year an opportunity to view and buy from local artists, enjoy organic refreshments including light lunches and locally-made cakes at our a pop-up café and buy a variety of fruit and vegetable garden plants and garden sundries, at our plant sale in the marquee.
Here at Tuppenny Barn we are delighted to feature the work of five local artists whose skills encompass painting, photography, printmaking, mixed media and textiles:
Dave Mallen. Photography
I photograph landscapes, texture, reflection and urban scenes showing traces of past lives.
I use post processing techniques to enhance images, sometimes pushing beyond reality to create aspects of life and the world around me.
Jean Mallan. Printmaking
I am a printmaker experimenting with its different techniques, etching, lino-cutting, silk-screen and mono printing. My work is inspired by the natural landscape, real or imaginary. My aim is to inform and emphasise printmaking as an art form.
Rosie Morgan. Painter, mixed media, printmaking
My new mixed-media series is inspired by an old photo album which I found some years ago in a vintage market in Chichester. The works are intended as reflections on time, family, memory and forgetting, love and loss, home and displacement.
Nicki Brooks. Painter
My seascapes are inspired by the dramatic skies, vivid colours and nature of Hayling Island and surrounding area. Hayling also has a herd of Highland cows, the ‘Hayling Highlanders’. These gentle giants have great character and are wonderful to paint.
Anita Bell. Mixed media, photography, textiles
My new work is based on the myth of Persephone about femininity, vulnerability and the fragility of nature using handmade paper, natural dye and embroidery. Mounted and framed work, prints, cards and handmade paper vessels.
