Come to Tuppenny Barn, where we have 5 active hives producing honey which we sell in the shop, and learn about the honey bee, its history and life-cycle and its use as a pollinator. We will look at the beehive, at the types, sizes and their component parts. Lastly, we will be guided through the equipment needed to keep bees and be given an explanation of the work involved in a beekeeping year.
This workshop is intended for people who have an interest in keeping bees and would like some guidance as to what is involved including information on local Beekeeping Associations who can help you undertake the next stage.
This event is led by Tuppenny Barn’s beekeeper Adrian Pert and assisted by Abi Young our Senior Education Officer. Adrian has kept bees for over 10 years, and is a BBKA qualified beekeeper.
Included in the price are information sheets for you to take away and home made refreshments.
