ExpiredIntroduction to Beekeeping Sunday 5th March 2023

Included in the price are information sheets for you to take away and home made refreshments.

During the workshop we will learn about the honey bee, its history and life-cycle and its use as a pollinator.  We will also look at the beehive, looking at types, sizes and their component parts. Lastly, we will be guided through the equipment needed to keep bees and be given an explanation of the work involved in a beekeeping year.

This workshop is intended for people who have an interest in keeping bees and would like some guidance as to what is involved including information on local Beekeeping Associations who can help you undertake the next stage.

This event is led by Tuppenny Barn’s beekeeper Adrian Pert and assisted by Abi Young our Senior Education Officer. Adrian has kept bees for 10 years, and is a BBKA qualified beekeeper. Abi has recently completed her qualification.
