UpcomingIntroduction to Cyanotype photography printing workshop – Saturday 10th August

Event Phone: 01243 377780

This workshop will introduce you to an alternative photographic process of making photographic images using sunlight and light sensitive materials.  Invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842, this historical cyanotype printing process is one of the earliest forms of photography bycapturing images on paper to produce beautiful prussian blue coloured images.

Sally Stone will guide you step-by-step through the process of creating beautiful cyanotype prints by demonstrating the process of preparing and coating the paper, exposure times and fixing your prints to enjoy for years to come.

During the workshop there will be the opportunity to gather foliage around Tuppenny Barn, plus there will be a variety of other objects and negative transparencies to print your own beautiful ‘blueprints’.

No prior experience is needed to participate. Cost of the workshop includes all materials provided for you to take home your own cyanotype prints.  Coffee, tea and homemade cake will be provided.

Further instructions will be sent on additional materials which can be brought along to the workshop.

Meet the Tutor

Sally is an experienced photography lecturer who has a keen interest in gardening and the great outdoors. Joining Tuppenny Barn initially as a volunteer gardener to learn more about organic vegetable growing, Sally is now responsible for selling the organic produce grown and cropped on-site at Tuppenny Barn on a weekly basis.  She is keen to encourage customers to try out new and different seasonal vegetables together with other locally sourced products as they arrive in the shop.

Sally also runs a number of Photography Workshops throughout the year at Tuppenny Barn to share her enthusiasm in using photography to visually capture our interpretation of experiences we may see in the natural environment, with our family and friends or just simply objects, anything can be photographed – people, places or objects.
