Rainwater harvesting makes a splash

Thanks to donations and kindness from local companies, essential repairs have been carried out to our water tank at Tuppenny Barn.

Southern Co-op – a regional, independent co-operative – made a £2,000 donation that has enabled the liner of the water tank to be replaced. This has boosted the water supply for the irrigation system as well as paving the way for us to introduce a rainwater harvesting system to flush our toilets.

Everyone here at Tuppenny would like to give a massive thank you to Southern Co-op for its support of our rainwater harvesting initiative. We would

also like to thank Cameron Irrigation Systems for supporting our initiative an

d providing their services at a massively reduced cost – they have gone the extra mile every time.

By harvesting rainwater we can now demonstrate to the local community what is possible, offering inspiration to other charities, businesses, organisations and individuals; showing how living with a light footprint is possible for us all.

It’s also just been announced that Tuppenny is this year’s charity partner for The Co-operative Food stores in Southbourne and Westbourne. The donation and charity partnerships are part of Southern Co-op’s community engagement programme ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’. Please ask your local Co-op how to show your support.
